Peter Jannesen, software developer

My name is Peter Jannesen and I have been developing software since 1980. I am a techie through and through, but I also have a keen eye for the business needs of my clients. This way, I have helped several organisations with software that they can use to make a difference. I am setting out those projects on this website. Below I will tell you something about myself.

I was at MTS when a teacher bought a DAI basic computer that I could play with after school. That same teacher had worked for Philips, and through him, we later got old Philips minicomputers, including several P880s. Together with a friend, we eventually expanded that into the largest Philips P880 configuration ever. He mainly did the hardware, I mainly did the software. That is when I knew for sure: I want to keep doing this forever.

My first paid assignment was in 1982. I wrote a C program that could translate a Business Basic Interpreter written in 8080/Z80 assembler to 8088 assembler. As a result, it was now suitable for PCs, which then conquered the market. This was a game changer for my client, who could now sell his existing applications for the PC.

That is exactly where my passion lies: the combination of technology and business. To really help companies. I am a techie to the very core of my being, but also someone who looks at the business side of things. I am an entrepreneur myself and was a shareholder in several companies where I worked, and therefore think differently from many other developers. I prefer to develop business software that really adds something, that has a central place within the business process and with which my client can really make a difference. I am very perfectionistic when it comes to the performance, stability and reliability of what I develop.

Perfect examples of this are ENet and TAS. As you can read on this website, those two systems are both crucial for my customers. For the last 25 years, more than half a billion euros' worth of energy has been traded through ENet and about half a million interpreting services have been arranged through TAS. I developed ENet and TAS to meet a need for my clients and to advance their entire business operations. I am proud that it worked. That’s what I do it for.

As a developer, I do projects for a wide range of companies. I alternate large assignments - developing business software - with small jobs, such as creating a link between two systems. Interested in my expertise? Feel free to contact me.
